Michael Daum


About

Michael Daum is a PhD candidate at the DGP at the University Of Toronto. He is currently researching topics in sketch based interfaces for modeling under the supervision of Karan Singh.

Michael obtained a BSc in Physics from McGill University in 1995 while working summers on the KTev project at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. After this, he performed his MSc in Computer Science at McGill‘s Centre for Intelligent Machines under the supervision of Gregory Dudek.

Michael has 8 years of experience in industrial software development, including 5 years on the Studio Tools team at Alias ( now owned by Autodesk ), in the role of Software Architect. In this role, Michael was responsible for SID, Studio Tools’ integrated paint package, as well as for the OpenGL Shading Language based hardware rendering.

Michael currently lives in the Cabbagetown neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario with his wife Elena, children Jacob ( 5 ) and Sophie ( 2 ), and dog Lambda( 12 ).
